American Express just dragged him to court for failing to pay a six-figure credit card bill.
Watching RHOM Season 6, you would never know Marcus was going through financial troubles. On the show, he and Larsa seemed to be on cloud nine, but Marcus was secretly in trouble with his credit card issuer. Radar Online originally reported the details of all the confusion.
Marcus Jordan’s Lawsuit: Marcus v. American Express
According to the outlet, around the same time Marcus stopped paying his American Express bill, he started hanging out with Larsa around town. Maybe he was so confused by his existence that he forgot to pay the bill? Regardless, American Express is ready to get their coins back.
American Express issued a business platinum card in 2016 under Marcus LLC. Marcus runs a business called Trophy Room in Orlando, Florida. It’s a “high-brow retail expression inspired by the trophy room inside the Jordan family home.”
The Larsa man had an unpaid balance of $157,000, but he stopped making payments in 2022, the card issuer said. American Express eventually filed suit against Marcus in December 2022 to recover the main debt he had accrued.
In the court case, Marcus agreed to pay the unpaid balance of $10,000 in installments. Do you think he asked Michael Jordan for that money, or did he ask Larsa for the money? Regardless, he was able to scrape together the money each month and paid off the entire balance this summer. Going from not paying bills to suddenly dropping $10,000 a month is a pretty critical turning point.
After the balance was paid, American Express dismissed the lawsuit against Marcus. However, they might think twice before issuing him and his LLC another credit card.
