Latin American pulmonologists endorse Plutarco Arias

Cathedral Rep – The Latin American Thoracic Association (ALAT) at its 16th Congress in the Dominican Republic recognized Dr. Plutarco Arias for his contributions to scientific knowledge and humane medical practice.

The scientific event was held in Punta Cana, Eastern Region, from August 10th to 13th, with the participation of exhibitors and guests from different countries.

Topics covered are: all aspects of asthma, diffuse and chronic obstructive interstitial lung disease, emphysema, bronchitis, lung cancer, management of high cost medications and new therapies that have entered the world market, etc.

The honor, which Arias received from ALAT President Francisco Arancibia, a Chilean physician, was bestowed upon him by the former Minister of Public Health for his professional experience in Latin America merit.

Arancibia highlighted the work Arias has done in the Dominican Republic in different professional practice settings and gave examples of his contributions to the fight against Covid-19.

The Chilean medical professional was quoted as he read the plaque: “In recognition of his distinguished medical career, leadership and commitment to the Latin American Thoracic Society.”

The Dominican Medical Faculty and President of the Dominican Society of Pulmonology and Thoracic Surgery thanked all ALAT members of pulmonology for their recognition.

“I see this honor as a sign of duty and a commitment to continue contributing to respiratory medicine and, of course, society in all areas,” Arias said.

The respiratory disease specialist has received numerous recognitions from national and international institutions for his contributions to improving the health, sports and other fields of the Dominican people and Latin America.
