LOS ANGELES (AP) — Anthony Davis scored 30 points and 13 rebounds, LeBron James scored 10 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter and played the game from start to finish, Los Angeles Lakers The team spent the final minutes on Thursday determined to win a 100-95 defeat against the Phoenix Suns.
James broke the tie with a layup with 1 minute and 11 seconds left in the game. The Lakers overturned a 12-point deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter and won their first victory of the new season. This is James’ first home game of the season and his 21st game in the NBA.
Kevin Durant had 39 points and 11 rebounds for the Suns, who played without stars Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. Phoenix led 84-72 at the start of the fourth quarter, but then made 13 of 14 shots and committed 10 turnovers over the next 10 minutes.
With 1 minute and 28 seconds left in the game, Durant scored in two consecutive possessions to tie the score at 91. He surpassed Hakeem Olajuwon and ranked 12th among the NBA’s all-time leading scorers.
But James responded with two layups, one after Durant’s missed three-pointer. Austin Reeves and Davis made free throws in the final seconds.
