Comparisons between LeBron James and Michael Jordan have reached another weird level.
On November 27, James suffered the worst defeat of his career so far against the Philadelphia 76ers, with the Lakers losing 138-94.
After the loss, “Hoops Wire” pointed out that, like James, Jordan’s biggest career loss also occurred when he was 44 points behind.
This happened in 2002, his penultimate season as a member of the Washington Wizards.
Jordan was 38 years old when they lost to the New Jersey Nets 67-111.
Another strange coincidence is that James is also 38 years old.
In fact, Jordan was only two days older when he lost on January 26, 2002.
The Lakers’ loss seemed to depress James, who was spotted angrily gesticulating at teammates during the game.
After the game, James’ frustration seemed to have not subsided, telling the media that he felt like they “got killed on the three-point line today.”
When asked what changes he thinks need to be made going forward, he simply said: “A lot.”
As for how the team needs to respond to the loss, James said: “I don’t know how the team should respond.
“I can only speak for myself. I don’t like this.”
In the end, the Lakers rebounded quickly and defeated the Detroit Pistons 133-107 on November 29, reaching a season record of 11 wins and 8 losses.
In another strange twist of fate, Jordan also bounced back quickly from his headline-grabbing loss.
Just three days later, the Wizards faced Jordan’s former team, the Chicago Bulls, 77-69.
