LeBron James’ criticism of Anthony Davis casts serious shade

LeBron James didn’t mince words Thursday night.

James spoke to TNT postgame after the Lakers defeated the Suns 100-95 at Cyrpto.com Arena on Thursday night.

When asked about those who criticized his teammate Anthony Davis for his second-half performance in the season-opening loss to the Nuggets, the 38-year-old James gave a pointed reply.

“We don’t give a damn about AD’s criticism — we don’t care. Nothing bothers us,” James said of Davis, who had a dominant night against the Suns, starting from Bouncing back from a tough first game. “AD doesn’t care, and I don’t know if people understand this, AD doesn’t care. He’s not on social media, so he doesn’t see the rest of the trash. He rarely speaks unless it’s to us.

The 30-year-old Davis scored 17 points and 8 rebounds in his first game, but he disappeared in the second half, shooting 0 for 6 and scoring no points.

After that game, Charles Barkley called out Davis on TNT’s postgame report.

“When he was in New Orleans, I said this guy was going to be the best basketball player in the world for the next five years. When you talk about the best player in the game, he’s not even mentioned anymore,” Barkley said . “LeBron has said it publicly: It’s (Davis’) team now. You wonder when the light is going to light up because he (doesn’t) have to play well every night, but you can’t play the whole half No goals scored in every game.”

But Davis had a strong performance against Phoenix on Thursday, scoring 30 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 steals and 2 assists.

Most notably, he scored 19 points in the second half.

For at least one night, he silenced his critics, even if the Lakers didn’t care one way or another.
