LeBron James Hilariously Called ‘Plumbers and Firefighters’ by Comedian

The debate between legends of the past and modern NBA players has been going on for quite some time. One of the most consistent comparisons in this debate is between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. But some believe the decline in basketball prior to the 2000s was planned. In fact, some even believe the whole thing is a modern-day fan smear campaign against Jordan meant to ruin his legacy. Stand-up comedian Andrew Schultz humorously accused LeBron of funding the campaign.

JJ Redick recently appeared on the podcast “FLAGRANT.” The discussion arose after Reddick asked Schultz if he was aware of the recent “I’m tired of the ’90s” trend. “I hate this. Who pays for this? It’s your podcast co-host,” the stand-up comedian replied. Here’s a humorous shot at LeBron James. It is worth noting that king Runs a podcast called Mind The Game with JJ Redick.

The discussion further led to Schultz emphasizing that this whole thing was a smear campaign against Mike. I’ve mentioned how people ruined basketball in the ’90s, as if people didn’t see it for what it was. Schultz raised the question of whether Redick thought basketball in the 1990s was garbage. “No,” he replied. The podcast also saw discussion surrounding the suggestion that Michael Jordan didn’t have a left hand. How it was said to break down later was that Mike walked to the left as much as he walked to the right.

Andrew Schultz further elaborated on his view that the whole thing is a smear campaign using these claims. JJ Redick, however, did not comment on the issue as he gleaned how his “plumbers and firemen” comments about previous generations of players were misconstrued.

JJ Redick clarifies his ‘plumbers and firefighters’ statement

Redick mentioned that he has earned a reputation for wanting to destroy older generations of players since he called some of them plumbers and firefighters. However, the former NBA player emphasized that what he said was based on facts. Redick said he was talking specifically about the players Bob Cousy played against in the 1950s.

“In the 1950s, almost every professional athlete in every sport…every professional athlete, not every, but most professional athletes had a summer job. They didn’t train year-round like we did. “They’re actually plumbers, firefighters, welders and farmers,” JJ Redick said.

However, podcast co-host Akash Singh said this meant players at the time were less athletic and at a lower level. “But it’s just a matter of them getting paid… They’re not like, hey, I want to be a plumber, I’m going to play basketball on the side… Like, they’re really good basketball players , had to contribute to break even, and so did Bob Cousy.”
