Saturday’s matchup between USC and Colorado isn’t as star-studded as rumored.
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and rap icon Jay-Z were unable to make the trip to Folsom, ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura and Adam Rittenberg reported Watch this spectacular showdown at Folsom Field.
Buffalo head coach Deion Sanders said before the game Colorado Football Coaches Show (h/t Brent Schrotenpohl USA Today) I thought “half the NBA” would be in Boulder.
BuffsBeat’s Josh Tolle, LeBron and Bronny James, Matthew McConaughey, Jay-Z, Will Ferrell, Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg Celebrities including dogs are expected to attend.
Bonagula and Rittenberg pointed to Terrell Owens, Paul Pierce, Warren Sapp, CC Sabathia and Kevin Garnett as notable athletes in attendance.
Sanders excelled in his first season as Colorado’s head coach, turning the program into must-see television. ESPN and Fox have hosted four Saturday pregame shows at Folsom Field.
On September 22, the Buffaloes’ game against Colorado State University is about to begin. On the 16th, The Rock and Lil Wayne came to town for an event. It’s unclear if James or Jay-Z were scheduled to attend and clashed later, or if their attendance was just a rumor that got out of control.
Even without James and Jay-Z on hand, Colorado State football’s five-game coverage this season represents a dramatic turnaround for a program that went 1-11 last year and has only made two bowl appearances since 2008.
Buffalo has lost its last two games against Oregon and USC after starting the season 3-0. They fought hard and defeated the No. 8 Trojans 48-41.
Sanders has done a great job laying the foundation for Colorado that the program will be able to build on. Things will get better in the future when he has a full recruiting cycle to add more players who fit his system.
