For LeBron James, he’s not the face of the Los Angeles Lakers; Anthony Davis is.
“He is the spokesperson (of the team)According to ESPN , LeBron James said of his teammates during Monday’s media day: “…you look at all these (retired) players around this facility, all the great players that have come here, AD is one of them.”
LeBron James is entering his 21st season in the NBA, but he is still one of the best players in the league. So far, there hasn’t been any drastic decline in his performance, and he and the Lakers hope he can continue to lead the team on the court during the upcoming 2023-24 NBA season. On the other hand, Davis is undoubtedly an important member of the Lakers team that failed to reach the NBA Finals last season.

In the 2022-23 NBA season, Davis leads the Lakers in win shares (9.0) and is 3.4 more than the rest of the team. In addition, Davis’s VORP value (VORP) among Lakers players is 4.0, tied with LeBron for the lead. Last August, Davis also signed a three-year max contract extension worth $177.13 million with the Lakers.
But no matter how you look at it, LeBron and Davis undoubtedly play vital roles in Los Angeles. Despite the many front-office changes the Lakers have made so far this offseason, the Lakers are still going to go the way of these two.
The Lakers will kick off the 2023-24 NBA season with a road game against the Denver Nuggets, the team that knocked them out of title contention last season.
