Decades into what was arguably the most decorated career in NBA history, LeBron James has entered uncharted territory as he continues to challenge Father Time in 2023-24, which will be his first season in the top league. ’s 21st season. If a recently released video is anything to go by, age doesn’t seem to be wearing on him yet — at least not like nearly every other 38-year-old player in sports history.

LeBron James has been more injury-prone in recent years — understandable, given that he’s in his 30s — but he still averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 100 rebounds in 55 games last season. 6.9 assists and a 40-10 loss — 9 tally — in the Lakers’ final game of the season.
For reference, the late Kobe Bryant was second in points per game in his 20th season. I’ve reached 17.6. Next up is Dirk Nowitzki (12.0), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (10.1), and this is his 20th season with double-digit numbers. Obviously, 28.9 is relatively unprecedented.
In his 21st season, the gap in time between LeBron and other players in the NBA may widen even further. Kobe Bryant and Abdul-Jabbar both called it quits after their 20th game, and Nowitzki’s numbers declined rapidly, leaving Vince Carter ahead in scoring at 7.4 points per game in ’21.
