LeBron James wishes A’Ja Wilson well ahead of WNBA Finals in stunning player-edition sneakers

LeBron James recently showed his support for WNBA star Aja Wilson in the most stylish way possible. As the Las Vegas Aces take on the Connecticut Sun in the 2023 WNBA Finals, the four-time NBA champion gifted her a pair of stunning player-edition sneakers.

On Wilson’s Instagram Story, she showed off the new shoes, captioning James’s caption, “What’s that velvet?” The former NBA MVP retweeted the post, wishing her well in the WNBA Finals.

“Just the four of you! Sister sports! Good luck in the finals!” James captioned it.

It’s been quite a journey for A’Ja Wilson as the Las Vegas Aces look to become back-to-back WNBA champions.

During the regular season, Wilson contributed 22.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.2 blocks in 28 games. She took it to the next level in the playoffs, averaging a double-double of 25.8 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.2 blocks and 1.6 steals per night.

Meanwhile, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are preparing for the upcoming season, playing six preseason games before their season opener against the defending champion Denver Nuggets on October 25.

LeBron James passes torch to Anthony Davis in Year 21

While the 2023 WNBA Finals are underway, the Los Angeles Lakers just concluded their media day ahead of the 2023-24 season. LeBron James is now the oldest player in the NBA and he will be looking to extend his career as long as possible. As a result, he views Anthony Davis as the spokesperson for the Lakers moving forward.

“He’s the face of (the Lakers),” James said at the Lakers’ media day on Monday. “You look at all these numbers around this facility, all the great players that have come here and AD is one of them.”

The 2022-23 NBA season was a healthy year for Davis, who played 56 games. Whenever he’s on the court, the 2012 No. 1 overall pick is truly a powerhouse averaging 25.9 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.0 rebounds per game.

The Lakers entered the playoffs with a healthy Davis and made it to the Western Conference Finals, where they lost to the eventual champion Denver Nuggets. He took his game to a higher level, averaging 22.6 points, 14.1 rebounds and 3.1 rebounds per playoff game.
