singer lizzo It’s revolutionizing beauty standards and how society wants black women to believe they are not desirable. The singer took to her TikTok account to share her thoughts.
“I’ve seen a lot of anti-black rhetoric today on TikTok,” Lizzo began in the caption of one of the videos. “You are embarrassing everyone. forget it. you lose, we win”, he concluded adding a long laugh.
According to the singer, society works hard to make black women think that they are not beautiful. By extension, she stated that those who disparage the beauty of black women are envious and affirmed her desire to break the normal standards of beauty.

This certainly isn’t the first time that Lizzo has spoken candidly about the hottest topic of beauty and how standards have always been too strict and limiting. Pervasive beauty standards throughout the Western world often favor Eurocentric features: small noses, straight hair, and pale skin.
All ethnic characteristics other than the so-called “classical” characteristics are generally avoided or ignored. According to Germ Magazine, these standards of beauty are due to colonialism in the 1800s. “The norms of European society have infiltrated other societies and taken away the values of beauty from different cultures.”
As a plus-size black woman, Lizzo’s looks are constantly commented on, often in unkind ways. The music superstar reacted to the series of comments saying,i am the standard of beauty,
“I am breaking the beauty rules that have always been there. hiking, You are beautiful,” Lizzo said at the end of the video.
