Zendaya will play a former tennis prodigy turned tennis coach. The plot will then see a love triangle between the protagonist and two professional tennis players josh o’connor And Mike Fist.
challengers Its world premiere out of competition will take place on 30 August at the Palazzo del Cinema in the Lido of Venice, opening the eightieth edition of the festival.
The film will be the Sicilian director’s first project fully backed by an American production company. “Challengers” will actually be distributed in the United States by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures/Amazon Studios and internationally. Warner Bros. Pictures.
The script for “Challengers” was written by American Justin Kuritzkes. in output we find Amy Pascaldirector himself Zendaya And Rachel O’Connor.
The film will be distributed in US cinemas from 15 September 2023, while the date for Italian cinemas has not been released yet.

The Italian director introduced his film with these words:

and really the character of ZendayaTashi Duncan, a tennis champion, is married to her peer Art, who has, however, suffered several spectacular defeats. Her husband aims to get back to success by participating in Challengers tournaments.
Here the plot will take an interesting turn: Tashi must face Patrick, played by Josh O’Connor, the protagonist’s former lover and Art’s best friend.
Luca Guadagnino then thanked the organization for choosing “Challengers” as the opening film at the Venice Film Festival.
