Manchester United training ground ‘on par’ with League One clubs after Cristiano Ronaldo criticism

Manchester United academy graduate Charlie Savage claims Reading’s Bellwood training ground is “comparable” to his former club’s facilities.

Savage joined Manchester United’s youth academy at the age of four and made his first-team debut as a substitute against Young Boys in the 2021 Champions League group stage. However, he left the club in the summer, joining League One side Reading on a free transfer.

“There is zero progress. You have to tear it down and rebuild it.” Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville also criticized the Glazer family for not revamping the club’s stadium and training facilities.

He told Sky Sports: “They haven’t dealt with the football operations; they haven’t dealt with the players and recruitment; they haven’t dealt with the rusty stadium, which requires a lot of investment.”

“Manchester United will need a billion pounds over the next two or three years to rebuild or refurbish the stadium. They may also need another £500-600 million for training ground and other infrastructure projects as well as football investment.”
