Labor (Interdit Aux Chiens Et Aux Italiens)full-length animated film, script and director Alain Ughetto winner of numerous awards, including Best Animated Film at the 2022 European Film Awards and the Jury Prize at the 2022 Annecy International Animation Festival, first presented at the 75th Locarno Film Festival and selected as the final entry at the 40th Turin Film Festival, August 31 distributed by Lucky Red. An international co-production supported, among others, by the Turin Piemonte Film Commission – Piemonte Doc Film Foundation, the Ministry of Culture – Directorate General of Cinematography and Audiovisual, Eurimages – which testifies to a personal story in the context of the great migratory movements of the early 1900s. Manodopera takes place in Piedmont at the beginning of the 20th century. The hope for a better life pushes Luigi Ughetto and his wife Cesira to cross the Alps and move the whole family to France. Director Alain Ughetto recalls his family’s history in an imaginary dialogue with his grandmother. The stop-motion animation traces the painful and fictional lives of Italian immigrants, creating a fresh and poetic story.
