Marcus Jordan tackles six-figure credit card debt

Marcus Jordan, possibly the “air” of basketball icon Michael Jordan’s empire, can breathe a sigh of relief after paying off a six-figure debt from American Express over the summer.

The company initially claimed Jordan stopped paying the $175,000 balance in 2022. American Express filed a lawsuit against the Trophy Room store owners in December 2022, and Jordan agreed to repay the balance in $10,000 increments.

Jordan and reality TV star Larsa Pippen (ex-wife of former Bulls legend Scottie Pippen) often make headlines because of their relationship that is unusually reminiscent of the golden years of NBA basketball. According to Page Six, Pippen maintains that her ex-husband and her boyfriend’s father, two of the most famous people in the league, had no real connection to their families before dating Jordan.

“I think people really think we’ve known each other our whole lives,” she said on an episode of the pair’s podcast, Larsa Pippen and Marcus Jordan’s Separation Anxiety. “Like I celebrated your fifth birthday or something. I was like ‘No, by the way,’ I’ve never met you before.”

In recent years, details of the tense relationship between the Jordan patriarch and his former right-hand man have shocked sports fans, who equated the pair’s on-court chemistry with an idealistic off-court bromance. Following the release of the Netflix documentary series, last dancetensions grew as Pippen disagreed with Jordan’s comparisons to his teammates.

“Even in the second episode, which briefly focused on my tough upbringing and unlikely path to the NBA, the story comes back to MJ and his determination to win. I was nothing more than a prop,” Pippen said at the time Said when talking about his image in the play. “Every episode is the same: Michael is on top, his teammates are secondary, smaller, and the message is no different than when he called us his ‘supporting cast’ back then.”
