On Twitter, James Gunn was quick to debunk the rumor that a Harley Quinn series with Robbie was in DC’s plans:

The rumor suggested that DC was working on a prequel series starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. The series was also said to be called harleen and would focus on how Harley’s attempt to save the Joker caused her to lose her mind. The rumor also stated that Harvey Dent/Two Face would be involved in the series, with the series existing outside the continuity of the Suicide Squad And Birds of Prey. In the end, Gunn’s straightforward answer kills any chance the rumor is true.

After another scene-stealing performance in the cast of The Suicide Squad, by Gunn, it seems likely that Robbie will return as Harley Quinn in the new DC Universe. The actress said she loves playing Harley Quinn and her character has been one of the few consistently positive aspects of the old DCEU.
