Superhero movies have always been the subject of anticipation and rumors, especially regarding their recognizable villains. Iron Man, Marvel’s groundbreaking film starring Robert Downey Jr., which introduced the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), was no exception. Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges), the film’s main antagonist, played a memorable role, but we didn’t know much about the original plan to include the Mandarin in the film. He is one of Iron Man’s most formidable enemies.
However, the film eluded his presence. The Tangerine was ultimately dropped from Jon Favreau’s 2008 film due to having too many villains in light of the criticism the previous two films received at the time. He is a Chinese supervillain from Marvel Comics who has appeared in various media. Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce respectively played the impostor and the real-life role of the Mandarin in Iron Man 3 (2013).

According to Marvel Studios spoilers on RedditTangerine was originally conceived by the creators of Robert Downey Jr.‘s iron Man being one of the antagonists in the 2008 film. However, this plan was eventually abandoned due to concerns about making the same mistakes as X-Men: The Last Stand And Spider-Man 3. The presence of so many villains in these Marvel films has drawn criticism.

Iron Man 3 Director Says ‘The Real’ Mandarin Was Marvel’s Apology to Fans
Director Iron Man 3Shane Black stated that Marvel’s 2014 direct-to-video short Glory to the King was a response to this film. The 61-year-old director addressed the issue Iron Man 3negative online reviews from UproxThis is Mike Ryan.
“Marvel saw so many negative things that they made a whole other movie just to apologize, called Hail the King.” To which they said: “No, no, the Mandarin is still alive.” It wasn’t him. This is the real Mandarin.”
Good guys The director went on to say that the only reason it was made was to apologize to upset fans. Marvel did not anticipate criticism over the way the character was portrayed in Iron Man 3; in fact the production company believed that the fans “eat this.”
“It never occurred to us that the Mandarin was as popular with people as, say, the Joker in Batman. (Fans) just wanted to see the magic rings shoot lasers.”

Although there was criticism towards the Mandarin character, Iron Man 3 received positive reviews from critics, who praised the action scenes, Black’s direction and Downey Jr.’s performance. The 2013 film was a box office hit, earning over $1.2 billion worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing film of that year.
