In recent months there has been much speculation on the net about a possible return of Anthony And Joe Russian to direct a film by Marvel Studiosmaybe just with Avengers: Secret Wars. This scenario was also fueled by the news that emerged last summer according to which the lawsuit between Scarlett Johannson
and the Disney regarding the hybrid release of Black widow had blocked the ongoing negotiations between the two directors and Marvel Studios.During an interview with Insider, the two directors, who as we know have directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) e Avengers: Endgame (2019), commented on the possibility of directing other projects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite the duo’s attention being directed to the company’s productions AGBO right now, filmmakers haven’t quite closed the door on an eventual return to Marvel Studios in the future:
Insider: “Is a return to Marvel out of the question or is this film – The Gray Man – and the other projects you are working on your current focus? You’ve already made the highest-grossing Marvel movie ever. You have been successful in that area. Is there more to do with Marvel or is the goal now to find success elsewhere on screen and behind the scenes? Some of you feel responsible to raise other voices?”
Anthony: “Look, we love Marvel. The time we spent making those movies is definitely among the most important pieces of our careerand we loved collaborating with everyone at the studio. We currently have no plans to do anything else with Marvel, but that doesn’t mean that at some point in the future… it can’t happen. We are very focused on what we are doing here. The Gray Man is an example of this, but we have several other projects that we have in the pipeline with (Christopher) Markus and (Stephen) McFeely. They’re true word-building projects, one of which we’ll start shooting this year. This is where our energy is.”
Joe: “Our company, AGBO, was formed for two reasons. One was to give us the creative freedom to make big-picture films, which, in turn, provide a financial basis for smaller films like Everything Everywhere All at Once, more adventurous stories, more experimental stories, films like Mosul and Relic that we made at AGBO. This company requires a lot of attention and that is our focus at the moment.”
We remember that Avengers: Endgame
(2019), written by Christopher Marcus And Stephen McFeely and directed by the brothers Anthony And Joe Russiansee in the cast Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers/Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton/Hawkeye), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Don Cheadle (James Rhodes/War Machine), Karen Gillan (Nebula) e Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel). This is the official synopsis:
“After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of the allies left alive after the snap, the Avengers will have to come together once again to undo the actions of Thanos thus restoring order to the universe once and for all, at the cost of the consequences that this could lead.
