On Christmas night, Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic surpassed the 10,000-point mark against the Phoenix Suns. He became the fastest player to reach this milestone since Michael Jordan.
Doncic only needs 11 points to reach the 10,000-point mark. However, Doncic erased this statistic, scoring 50 points against the Suns. He shot 15-25 from the field, 8-16 from three-point range, and made all 12 of his free throw attempts.
The Slovenian star’s records continue to add up. He also joined Bernard King, Wilt Chamberlain and Rick Barry as the only players to score more than 50 points on Christmas Day.
At 24 years and 300 days old, Doncic became the sixth youngest player to score 10,000 points. The only players who can do that at a younger age are LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony and Tracy McGrady. Eliminate elite companies.
Now that Doncic has reached 10,000 career points, he is eligible to join the all-time scoring average rankings.

He currently ranks third all-time, behind all-time greats Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain. Although it seems like just yesterday that the Mavericks drafted Doncic with the third overall pick, he has already become a mature star.
Doncic has already achieved a lot at such a young age. He was a four-time All-Star, a four-time All-NBA selection, and the NBA Rookie of the Year. It was only a matter of time before the player with the third-highest scoring average of all time won the MVP award, and he’s now leading the race.
With the exception of Elgin Baylor and Jerry West, every player in the top ten has won an MVP award. Although neither player won the game’s highest individual honor, each player won a championship and was selected to the All-NBA team 10 or more times.
Although Doncic is young, there is no reason not to believe that he will reach legendary status sooner or later. Whether it’s winning a championship or continuing his greatness, there’s nothing left for Doncic to accomplish.
