A copy of the new generation of the Renault Mégane (now it is electric) was seen on the streets of the City of Buenos Aires with the body completely exposed and caused launch rumors, although for now it is not in the plans of the Rombo for the local market.
The journalist Eduardo Smok shared on his Instagram profile a photo of the new electric Megane parked in the Buenos Aires territory. It was later learned that he arrived in the country for the filming of the commercial that will be seen in Europe, where it is not yet for sale.
How is the new Renault Mégane electric
The new Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric (this is its full name) completely changes in relation to its predecessor: its body is shaped like an SUV (like a small truck) and is powered by a 100 percent electric motorization.
It is the model with which the diamond brand intends to compete in the segment of the Volkswagen ID.3, Polestar 2, Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model 3.
With the Model 3, in reality, it is only linked by the type of propulsion, but Renault aims squarely at Tesla. The electric Megane was “Proudly created in Europe, not California, sorry“, they spoke from the French brand through their social networks, tacitly referring to the automaker founded and led by Elon Musk.
Customers of the electric Mégane will be able to choose between two mechanical options. The most accessible offers a 130 horsepower engine and 250 Nm of maximum torque. The most expensive has a propeller of 250 horsepower and 300 Nm of maximum torque, with which it accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.4 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 160 km / h (it is electronically limited).
It is equipped with an NMC lithium-ion battery from LG that weighs 395 kilograms and is only 11 centimeters tall. The 40 kWh option has a range of up to 299 kilometers and the 60 kWh option can last up to 470 kilometers on a single charge. 399 kilometers are charged in eight hours connected to a 7.4 kWh Wall Box (it is a device that is installed in the homes of drivers) or completely in just thirty minutes in a 130 kW fast charging station. It comes with four levels of energy recovery and regenerative braking system.
In relation to the Mégane combustion, the electric has a 9 centimeter lower center of gravity. It is also distinguished by the Multi-Sense system, which offers four driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport and My Sense. The platform is the same that the Nissan Ariya uses.
It comes with Led lights, alloy wheels up to 20 inches, central touch screen of up to 12 inches, 12.3-inch digital instruments, leather and Alcantara upholstery, wooden interior finishes, a 440-liter trunk and 26 driving assistance systems with level 2 autonomy.
