Self-financed by Coppola himself, metropolis – the new rate of the American director. Set in the future of New York City, the film features star actors such as Adam Driver, Robert De Niro, Shia LaBeouf, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel and many more.
On the Back to One podcast, the actor Jon Hamm he congratulated Coppola on his venture. Hamm will not be in the film, but he says he attended the script reading to help Coppola write the script. He says:
Look at what Francis Ford Coppola is up to now. He’s making a $300 million film that he just… wanted to make. I attended the reading of the script of the film, I know how impossible it is. But he is. And God bless him, that’s exactly what he should be doing.
Hamm adds:
I said to myself, “I have no idea how he’s going to make this film.” I was sitting at a table with Al Pacino, Shia LaBeouf and all these incredible actors. I thought, “I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m incredibly happy to be here in this room at Paramount Studios where The Godfather was filmed 45 years ago when Robert Evans was here. “I said to myself, ‘OK, I’ll be a part of it.’
