From Tehran (archive)
In light of growing international fears about the expansion of the conflict that erupted on October 7 between Israel and Palestinian factions in Gaza and its transformation into a regional war, the United States has sent clear and decisive messages to Iran.
US officials have revealed that US President Joe Biden’s administration has sent messages to both Tehran and Hezbollah, through regional partners including Turkey, saying the US is determined to intervene militarily if they launch attacks against Israel.
Militarily prepared
Officials said Washington conveyed these messages clearly, stressing that it was ready to intervene militarily against both Hezbollah and Iran and strike them if they attacked Israel, the New York Times reported.
These warnings came as the waters of the Mediterranean Sea were crowded with huge American aircraft carriers and even nuclear submarines in preparation for the protection of American military bases in the region and for any emergency response that the circumstances might require.
These messages also came as a continuation of many political warnings issued publicly and officially by American officials, the most recent of which was US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who yesterday visited Israel and then also the West Bank and Iraq , where he issued his final warning.
