Meta has turned more than a dozen celebrities and influencers into bots.
The tech company announced at the Meta Connect 2023 conference on Wednesday that it is partnering with “cultural icons and influencers” to unleash and embody AI-powered chatbots that will have profiles on Instagram and Facebook. These include Snoop Dogg, Charli D’Amelio, Mr. Beast (Jimmy Donaldson), Kendall Jenner, Tom Brady, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and Paris Hilton.

Unveiling a new artificial intelligence chatbot, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company wants to create artificial intelligence with unique personalities, opinions and interests. “It’s not just about answering questions,” he said. “It’s about entertainment, it’s about helping you do something to connect with the people around you.”
Currently, celebrity chatbots respond in text form—their avatars don’t actually speak their responses. Zuckerberg said an AI voice could emerge early next year.
In addition to these well-known chatbots, there are other chatbots based on Meta AI, which the company calls an “advanced conversational assistant” that can be used on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram (and will be available on the iPhone starting at $500 Quest 3 headset, and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, starting at $299). Meta AI can provide you with “real-time information” through Meta’s search partnership with Microsoft’s Bing, and can generate realistic images based on your text prompts that you can share with friends.Initially, it will only be sold in the United States
Meta notes that currently, the chatbots’ knowledge bases (with the exception of Meta AI, Tom Brady’s Bru, and Chris Paul’s Perry) are “limited to information that mostly exists before 2023, meaning some responses may be out of date.” The Meta AI chatbot is powered by Llama 2, the company’s large language model (LLM) database.

Celebrity AI will launch in beta in the U.S. starting Wednesday. Meta says new characters played by Bear Grylls, Chloe Kim and Josh Richards, among others, will be added in the coming weeks.
Meta announced that over time it will offer AI chatbots to businesses and creators, and said it will release its AI Studio tool for people to build their own AI.
The company is also launching new customized, AI-generated stickers for WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Facebook Stories. Meta says the tool leverages technology from Llama 2 and Emu, its base model for image generation, to turn text prompts into multiple unique stickers (i.e. “Pizza Plays Basketball” or “Super Happy Raccoon”) in seconds. riding a motorcycle”).
Additionally, Instagram is launching two new AI-powered image editing features: “Redesign,” which lets you apply different visual styles based on text descriptions (such as “watercolor” or “collage of magazines and newspapers, torn edges” “); and “Background”, which changes the scene or background of the image based on the prompt (e.g. “Surrounded by puppies”).
In announcing the Instagram AI image tool, Meta noted: “We know how important transparency is for AI-generated content, so images created with redesigns and backgrounds will indicate the use of AI to reduce the risk of people mistaking them for Human Opportunities – Generated Content. “We are also experimenting with forms of visible and invisible markup. “
