New Instagram app lets you post text, videos and links
Meta, the company founded by Mark Zuckerberg, has launched Threads, a new app designed to compete with Twitter. Linked to Instagram, Threads allows users to post text of up to 500 characters, videos of up to five minutes and links, as well as images. Users can use their Instagram login to log in and connect with friends and influencers with similar interests. The new app promises security features and the ability to have conversations even for people without Threads accounts.

The Threads announcement has intensified the rivalry between Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, who acquired Twitter. The new app represents the latest chapter in the competition between the two companies. Threads provides the ability to share threads to Instagram Stories and other platforms, as well as interaction control features and reaction filters. Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Threads, aims to create “a new era of diverse and interconnected networks” by allowing conversation even for people who don’t have a Threads account.
