Michael B. Jordan is causing an uproar on social media after a short clip in which he shares the downsides of being fully committed to an acting role.
The Hollywood heartthrob recently became the talk of the town when he resurfaced his three-year-old interview with “BigBoyTV’s” Jamie Foxx online.
During the 51-minute conversation, Jordan candidly explained how he suffered from depression while preparing to play superhero villain Eric Killmonger in Marvel’s Black Panther. He also revealed how he “came out” of the dark experience.
“There’s no blueprint,” Jordan said. “I look at every job as a learning experience. You know I try to learn something from everyone; I try, I try to grow, I try to grow – I never know I have to go out of a role come out.”
People magazine’s former “Sexiest Man Alive” continued, “That was the first time I really didn’t feel like myself, and I was like ‘Man, I’m depressed.'”
Jordan admitted that he isolated himself in order to gain access to Killmonger’s inner world, and he summed up the character as an emotionless antagonist. Unfortunately for the 36-year-old, once it’s time to step away from that role, it’s difficult for him to do so.
“I was really cut off from affection and love from a lot of people,” he said. “And then coming out of it, I had to… I had to get used to being around family and friends and being normal and talking about regular things as if it was a A completely different thing.”
As his explanation continued, the “Tenet” actor shed light on therapy, which he said helped give him the tools he needed to overcome this “beast.”
“Treatment really helped me get over it and start fresh,” Jordan noted.
He shared his vulnerable experience on The Jasmine Brand’s Instagram page, and the love poured in. Many fans believe Jordan’s struggles are justified because he has managed to fully immerse himself in a character. One person wrote: “Considering how well they played their characters, it makes sense that this would have an impact on them. The characters have to be made real to feel real.”
Another person wrote: “This is why most actors end up going crazy. Need a mental tool.”
It’s amazing how much effort Hollywood actors put into their performances.
They have to become their characters.
I heard Michael B. Jordan just wasn’t himself after Killmonger.
You have to go to therapy to find yourself again.
This is crazy to me.

Jordan took on some challenging roles during his time in Hollywood. As a teenager, he played the role of 16-year-old Wallace in the 2005 TV series The Wire. His character was apparently used as an emotional piece in the show’s first season.
Wallace’s fate in The Wire ended abruptly after he was killed by his young friends Bodie and Putt, played by J.D. Williams and Trey Chaney respectively.
Jordan also played the title character Oscar Grant in the 2013 biographical drama Fruitvale Station. This story tells the true story of Grant, who was stopped and killed by Bay Area Rapid Transit police on New Year’s Day 2009.
According to police, he mistook the gun for a Taser and fired a bullet into Grant’s back.
Jordan also makes an epic return in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, playing a quick scene as Erik Killmonger.
Earlier this year, Jordan’s name was everywhere in preparation for the third “Tenet” movie. He has kept a low profile since, but was recently spotted at a basketball game in Abu Dhabi.
There, he met Steve Harvey, the stepfather of his ex-girlfriend Lori Harvey, prompting fans to urge him and Lori to give their relationship another try.
The two were together for nearly two years before breaking up. It is said that the reason why the two broke up was that Jordan wanted to settle down, while the SKN by LH founder wanted to continue playing.
