The QQQ Legacy Classic presented by Michael B. Jordan returns for its third consecutive year, featuring games from Grambling and Jackson State and Howard Howard vs. Hampton.
The third annual Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic returns in February with an exciting men’s college basketball game between Grambling and Jackson State University, as well as a rematch between Hampton University and Howard University. The event was created by Michael B. Jordan to increase the visibility of HBCU basketball.
“I just want to be known as a guy who helps people, makes things easier, brings people together and provides opportunities for other people,” Jordan said in comments obtained by Forbes in 2021. “Motivation, I guess. To do something for other people so that it can continue when I’m gone. “
Jordan In partnership with WME Sports, Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment and Scout Sports and Entertainment, the Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic is designed to showcase the HBCU experience on and off the court. The event will be broadcast live on TNT and Max’s B/R Sports Add-On on Saturday, February 3 at 1pm ET.
This year’s Heritage Classic is the first time the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) has teams competing, as Grambling State looks to cool off a red-hot Jackson State team led by NBA champion Mo Williams. Meanwhile, Howard and Hampton will have another “real HU battle” after opening the season with a 92-80 victory over Hampton on Nov. 6.
TNT will have comprehensive coverage of the doubleheader, with play-by-play commentary from Minnesota Timberwolves lead announcer Michael Grady, analyst Grant Hill and reporter Stephanie Reddy. Taylor Rooks will host pregame, postgame and halftime coverage, and will also be joined by Renee Montgomery, Isiah Thomas and other special guests.
To add to the celebratory atmosphere, all participating HBCUs will bring their own bands to perform during the competition. The game will also be hosted by North Carolina A&T alumnus and former “106 & Park” host Terrance J.
The Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic has gained momentum since its inaugural event in 2021, with exciting games between Delaware State and North Carolina Central, Howard University and North Carolina A&T. Last season, Morgan State beat Delaware State and Norfolk State beat Hampton.
