NBA legend Michael Jordan admits there are similarities between himself and Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.

As the 22-year-old Edwards continues to draw comparisons to the player widely considered the GOAT, Jordan confirmed he sees a little bit of himself in Minnesota’s franchise player.

FS1’s Chris Broussard relayed Jordan’s message on Wednesday’s episode of First Things First.

“I contacted the GOAT today, Michael Jordan,” Broussard said. “Jordan said there were similarities in their games, and he agreed with that. If Jordan said there were similarities, there were similarities.

Edwards, who was drafted by the Timberwolves in 2020, has been comparing his mentality, playing style and athleticism to Jordan. While Broussard noted that Edwards won’t be as great as Jordan, he emphasized how the latter reflected the six-time champion’s tenacity.

Broussard also noted that Edwards’ dunk on Utah Jazz forward John Collins on March 18 drew widespread attention.

“Beyond his athleticism and explosive dunks, he has the same hunger to play that Jordan has,” Broussard said of Edwards. “This dunk proved it. He dislocated his finger, went to the locker room, popped it back into place, taped it up, then came back and continued playing.”

Like Broussard, Milwaukee Bucks veteran and former Timberwolves player Patrick Beverley told reporters last November that he had “told everyone from the beginning” that Edwards “had a chance to be Michael Jordan.”

On the other hand, Undisputed host Skip Bayless described the comparison as “ridiculous.” He also brought up Minnesota’s 115-112 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday despite Edouard scoring 30 points.

Bayless: ‘I just cry for this kid’ said on wednesday. “I guess Anthony probably heard some of that talk and it started seeping into his psyche, like ‘I have to be Jordan,’ and last night he wasn’t Jordan.”

Edwards played in 65 games this season, averaging 26.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game, while shooting 46.7% from the field. Under his leadership, Minnesota ranked second in the Western Conference with a record of 47 wins and 21 losses.

With many comparing him to Jordan, Edwards admitted he hopes they can rest in peace.

“I just want them to stop,” Edwards awning complex in December. “Because he’s the greatest basketball player of all time, and I’m nowhere near that.”
