But now he’s very, very rich.
Jordan joins Forbes’ list of the nation’s 400 richest people for the first time. Jordan ranked 379th on the latest list released this week with a net worth of $3 billion. He became the first athlete ever to make the list.
Jordan is a partner in the high-end Jupiter waterfront restaurant 1000 North and the Cincoro Tequila brand, and lives part-time in the Jupiter area.
On the court, the legendary No. 23 of the Chicago Bulls won six championships and captured Finals MVP honors six times. Jordan helped the Bulls win four NBA championships in six years.

Jordan is also an Olympic gold medalist. He earned the nickname “Dream Team” alongside superstars such as Larry Bird (Boston Celtics) and Magic Johnson (Los Angeles Lakers) at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.
According to Forbes, Jordan earned $94 million in his 15 NBA seasons. But his recognition off the field is even more valuable. He earned approximately $2.4 billion during his career through endorsements of brands such as McDonald’s, Gatorade and Nike. According to Forbes, he recently received about $260 million in annual royalties from Nike, which sells his brand of Air Jordan shoes.

While the cash puts him ahead of all other American athletes, it puts him on Forbes’ latest list (which includes super players like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Warren Buffett and Bill Gates). Regal) for his performance against the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets.
Forbes reported that in August, Jordan sold his majority stake in the Charlotte franchise at a valuation of $3 billion. According to Forbes, this is the second-highest sale price in NBA history and is nearly 17 times what Jordan was worth when he became the majority owner in 2010.

The prospects for professional athletes to become billionaires remain highly precarious. According to Forbes, only three American professional athletes have ever accomplished this.
Jordan became the first to achieve that goal in 2014, followed by LeBron James and Tiger Woods, a Jupiter Island resident not far from Jordan’s home who are still active in their careers.
Ironically, while Jordan enters the Forbes 400 as no longer a sports franchise owner, he now joins the ranks of many other sports team owners.
