The Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster is billed as “the world’s fastest and most powerful convertible.”
With a top speed of 485 km/h (300 mph), this is what the greatest NBA players of all time strive to be the best at.
“Today is a special day,” the Hennessey Performance Instagram account said.
The caption was shared underneath a photo of company CEO John Hennessey with Michael Jordan and his new ride.
They stood outside the Hall of Famer’s private golf club, Grove XXIII, in Florida.
“It’s an honor to build a special Venom F5 for a special friend.”
While the focus of the post is the car, the photo doesn’t reveal much.
Only a small portion of its sleek carbon fiber bodywork is visible, complete with yellow pinstripes.
The Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster made its debut almost two years ago.
Production starts in late 2022.
Only 24 of this coupe were built, which makes it even more glamorous than the convertible.
When production is limited, prices can go crazy.
Pricing starts at $3 million for the Venom F5 Roadster and $2.1 million for the coupe.
Let’s unpack the hefty price tag.
The Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster is equipped with a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V8 engine.
It has 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 pound-feet of torque, transmitted through a seven-speed single-clutch semi-automatic transmission.
The front of the sports car has many similarities to the coupe.
However, the differences start in the cabin.
There is a removable carbon fiber roof panel that weighs only 18 pounds (8 kilograms).
Without a roof, curb weight increases slightly to 3,100 pounds (1,406 kg)
The regular F5 weighs 2,998 pounds (1,359 kilograms).
The rear of the vehicle features innovative tempered glass that can withstand temperatures in excess of 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
This provides a glimpse of the powerful engine located behind the passenger compartment.
“We created the Venom F5 to be the ultimate supercar expression,” Hennessey said at the car’s launch.
“Our 1,817-horsepower ‘Fury’ engine screams behind the exposed cockpit, roaring unimpeded by the roof – it’s an automotive experience like no other.”
History-making athlete Jordan didn’t just make money from playing.
In fact, he has amassed a fortune since retiring more than 20 years ago.
Last year, Michael Jordan made $256 million from his licensing deal with Nike, while his legendary Jordan Brand earned $5.1 billion.
