‘(Michael Jordan) didn’t make the Finals’: Stephen Curry digs into Shaquille O’Neal and Jordan’s early struggles

The same applies to the Golden State Warriors. They won 73 games in the regular season, the most by any team in NBA history. That was eight years ago. They’re no longer a team that can make five consecutive finishes. The core players are aging, and even the roster looks different.

But for Curry, it’s not frustrating. I use the examples of Michael Jordan, Shaq, and nemesis LeBron James to emphasize the difficulty of remaining competitive in the NBA.

“After the ’22 Finals, you understand how the margins diminish as you get further into your career. The little things that impact winning are so precious. Remind ourselves of that, and you know, bring the young guys and let They get to that level. So there’s always patience in it. And there’s a realism, you know, it’s really hard to compete for a championship every year. You just look at the history of the league. You name it, legends, Kobe, Sha Grams, Michael, LeBron, you look at all those guys that have played for so many years and played at such a high level. “They don’t make the finals every year,”

As Curry said, building a championship core and competitive culture requires patience and perseverance. It took Jordan seven years to win his first championship, Shaq didn’t win one until his fourth season with Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James also had to wait nine years. Even looking at the Warriors, building that same core and then developing it into a core that can win a championship is a systematic and meticulous process.

Let alone winning, even reaching the NBA Finals is a difficult task. You have the best team and have been preparing for this all season. The Warriors did the unthinkable in 2022 and even won. This shows that even though their core looks depleted, it can turn into a competitive team because of the culture.

Currently, the Warriors are at a stage where they are trying to develop these qualities in their young men. This is a long process. Winning a championship doesn’t happen overnight. Stephen Curry has seen this, which is why he remains loyal even when the Warriors fall.
