Piers Morgan once named the top 10 greatest players of all time in sports, and he excluded the likes of Lionel Messi and Tom Brady.
The Al Nasr superstar scored an incredible 873 goals during his career for club and country.
But, according to Morgan, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was preceded by four sporting GOATs.
Behind Ronaldo is track and field icon Usain Bolt, who has a staggering eight Olympic gold medals and still holds the current 100m world record, having set a ridiculous 9.58 seconds in 2009 .
Morgan claimed the Jamaican “managed to combine immense size, speed and strength with a charismatic personality” to destroy his opponents.
Muhammad Ali ranked third, a three-time world heavyweight champion during his storied career.
“The absolutely gorgeous way he delivered his speeches and the incredible influence he had on the global stage made Ali special,” Morgan said.
Michael Jordan ranks second for his illustrious achievements in basketball, winning six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls.
Morgan praised “MJ” as the “second greatest athlete in history” and called him a “certifiable lunatic.”
Morgan’s all-time sporting GOAT is none other than Australian cricketer Sir Don Bradman.
“The Don” is widely regarded as the greatest batsman in cricket history. His Test batting average of 99.94 is considered by many critics to be the greatest achievement of a player in any major sport.
Morgan explained: “He is a 5-foot-7 machine and so dominant that if he had scored just four runs in the last innings, his international average would have been 100, which in cricket terms is perfect.
“Instead, he had zero results, proving that no one is perfect. But Bradman is the closest thing to a perfect athlete in history. That’s why, to me, he is the GOAT of sports.”
Here are Morgan’s top 10 sporting goats of all time:
10 – Ayrton Senna (racing driver)
9 – Wayne Gretzky (hockey)
8 – Michael Phelps (swimmer)
7 – Roger Federer (Tennis)
5 – Cristiano Ronaldo (football)
4 – Usain Bolt (sprinter)
3 – Muhammad Ali (boxing)
2 – Michael Jordan (basketball)
1 – Sir Don Bradman (Cricket)
