Michael Jordan’s “Olympic” Air Jordan 6 Sneakers Are Coming Back

The classic Air Jordan sneaker will return during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

As the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris approaches, the U.S. men’s basketball team is gearing up to once again compete for gold. However, after an embarrassing performance at last summer’s FIBA World Cup, Team USA is determined to regain the reputation it once earned as a “Dream Team.” Just in time for the event, we’ll be seeing the return of the classic Michael Jordan sneakers from Team USA’s 2000 Sydney Olympics. Check out our sneaker news for more upcoming releases and great content!

There are many special occasions to celebrate during the NBA season, and players have the opportunity to showcase their talents and sneakers at some of the country’s major holidays. Whether it’s the All-Star Game, NBA Christmas, or overseas regular season exhibition games, players are constantly coming up with new ideas for special edition sneakers and themes.

However, only a handful of NBA stars are lucky enough to represent Team USA in the Olympics every four years. Basketball’s once-great achievements have declined slightly over the past few years, and the NBA’s best players have chosen to sit on the sidelines. Michael Jordan jumped at every opportunity to compete in the Olympics, and his legacy was honored when they released a navy/white colorway of the Air Jordan 6.

The Air Jordan 6 was inspired by Michael Jordan’s love for sports cars, with the shoe’s shape resembling an industrial-looking structure. The “Olympic” edition features white and navy color blocking on the leather upper with red accents on the tongue logo and lace lock. Featuring an icy blue outsole, this shoe is an extremely clean iteration of the Air Jordan favorite.

The shoe was last re-released at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and sneakerheads have been waiting to get their hands on a new pair. They are expected to be released on July 20, 2024, just one week before the start of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. They’ll cost $200 and should be available in sizes for the whole family. You can find the limited release available on the Nike SNKRS app, KicksCrew.com and select Jordan retailers.

These will be heavily hyped and should sell out quickly given their latest releases. We can’t wait to see the U.S. try for gold as we get to try and capture a couple of them.

What are your thoughts on the return of the “Olympic” Air Jordan 6?
