Michael Shannon Criticizes Multiverse Movies 'It's Like Playing With Someone's Action Figure'

During a recent interview, Michael Shannon discussed this return of his, explaining that he is not a big fan of the films in the multiverse:

I won’t lie, it was not satisfying enough for me as an actor. These multiverse movies give me the idea of playing with someone’s action figure. “Here is this person, here is another … and now they are fighting!”

The actor then compared the film to Man of Steel, in which Zod gets enough time to play, reveal his motivations and deepen his characterization. Judging by his words, The Flash will be used as a simple engine of events and will not have the same space compared to Snyder’s film given the large presence of characters.

There isn’t such a deep character study that I tried with man of Steel… I don’t care if people think it’s crazy. Man of Steel was a more sophisticated story. The Flash is also a sophisticated story, but it’s not the story of Zod. I am only here to create a challenge for the heroes.
