Microsoft Office beta adds voice search

Microsoft has released a new beta version of the Office suite of applications (Build 14228.20044). It contains bug fixes and two improvements.

A microphone icon appears in the search bar in Word. It allows you to search through text using your voice. In addition, the function allows you to find the built-in program commands without pressing any buttons.

Another new feature is the improved Read Aloud feature. The synthesized voice now sounds more natural. This works in Word and Outlook applications. The option is available on the “Review” tab in Word and “Message” in Outlook, you can choose the voice option through the settings.

To update Office, you need to go to File> Account> Update Options in any of the suite’s applications.
