A songwriter who co-wrote one of Katy Perry’s hit singles and disappeared earlier this year has been found safe, authorities and a friend of the artist have confirmed.
Camela Leiert-Segura, 48, was last seen in Beverly Hills, California on June 29. The alarm was sparked by the Swedish songwriter after her sister, who lives in Sweden, was unable to contact her for weeks and contacted friends in the US.
This was reported to the Beverly Hills police. Independent that the investigation into Ms Leyaert-Segura’s disappearance is now closed. Cecilia Foss, a friend of the singer best known as a co-writer of Katy Perry’s 2013 song “Walking On Air,” also said Leiert-Segura had been found in California.
“She was found a few hours ago, so she is safe now,” Ms. Foss said in the message Independent. “The family has asked for privacy and the police have not given me any details (yet) so all I know is that she has been found for now.”
A Beverly Hills Police spokesman said no additional details about the circumstances that led to the case being closed will be released at this time. Foss previously told Independent that Ms Leiert-Segura could not have simply disappeared without a trace, and the fact that her beloved 19-year-old cat Morris was missing made it an even greater mystery.
“She was always busy, always working towards her next goal,” Ms. Foss said back in August. “But if I asked her to catch up and she was busy, she would always say, ‘Don’t worry, we’ll have tea soon.’
Ms. Foss and Ms. Leiert-Segura met while working in the modeling industry in New York. They found a common language with representatives of the Scandinavian countries: Ms. Foss from Norway and Ms. Leyaert-Segura from Sweden.
Both led busy lives, but they always managed to catch up over tea every few weeks or months. Ms. Leiert-Segura has a passion for writing music and treats her cat, Morris, like a child, her friend said.
Another longtime friend, Liz Montgomery, was alerted by Ms Leiert-Segura’s sister in Sweden, prompting her to call for a welfare check. Police responded to her last known address in Beverly Hills, where the landlord told them she had been evicted.
“She told all of us that she was having problems; Covid definitely hasn’t helped her because she’s a musician and a model and an actress and everything,” Ms. Montgomery previously said. Los Angeles Times. “And no money arrived.”
Neighbors told local news they hadn’t seen her in weeks. The usually well-kept plants on her balcony died. Neither her cat nor her 2010 Ford Fusion with California license plate 6KZJ725 were in sight.
Ms Leiert-Segura’s last text message was sent on June 29, and her Ford Fusion was last seen on police cameras leaving Beverly Hills the next day, June 30, but it is unclear who was driving the car.
Ms. Montgomery then filed a missing person’s report with Beverly Hills police on August 8th. Beverly Hills Police assured the public that a thorough investigation into her disappearance is underway.
“The timing is particularly important given the date she was allegedly missing compared to the date it was reported to police,” police said in a statement at the time.
