Money, it’s gas! | ANote opens auction on Steve James catalog (with Garrix and Bieber inside)

ANote Music is selling half of the rights to Steve James’ catalog, featuring hits from Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber and Martin Garrix. What is the main European marketplace for investments in music rights, announces the arrival of the American producer’s catalog on the platform, with the opening of the auction on 50% of the royalties on his songs by the artist.

The catalog includes five songs brought to success by great protagonists of the pop and Electronic Dance Music scene of recent years: «Nobody Else» (Backstreet Boys), «Power» (Little Mix), «Purpose» (Justin Bieber), «Best of You” (Andy Grammer) and “In the Name of Love” (Martin Garrix and Bebe Rexha).

The catalogue, available on the platform of ANote, a startup founded by Marzio F. Schena (in the photo), for the entire life cycle of the rights, has generated average annual royalties of 29,648 euros in the last three years (2019-2022) and 28,556 euros in the last 12 months (2021-2022). The total valuation of the catalog is 280 thousand euros and the first distributions of royalties are expected 3 months after the closing date of the auction.

Born in Pennsylvania in 1998, Steve James is a versatile artist: he studied piano in his childhood, but fell in love with electronic music as a teenager after attending a concert by DJ Avicii. Success arrives in 2014, then consolidating following the meeting in Los Angeles with the artist Jason Boyd (aka Poo Bear): with him he works on the title track of Justin Bieber’s album, “Purpose”, which gets three platinum records in America and 4 in Canada, earning Steve James his first Grammy Award nomination.

Among the other illustrious collaborations of the artist, DJ and producer, also the one with Martin Garrix and Bebe Rexha, with whom he worked on In the Name of Love, present in the ANote catalogue: the song, released in 2016, was well received by the public and became a huge hit entering the charts of over 30 countries.

“I’m really happy that my catalog is available on ANote Music,” says Steve James. «Observing the performance of the royalties of my songs over the years has been an incredible experience and I am really happy that a platform like ANote offers fans and listeners the possibility to experience the same emotions that I felt. Now, when they hear one of the songs in the catalogue, whether it’s on the radio or at the gym, they’ll be able to experience firsthand the joy that comes with owning some of it. In addition to this, this partnership allows me to finance my music and my artistic project, giving me the possibility to push myself beyond what I have done up to now. Ultimately, what ANote is doing today, helping artists and fans, will be central to the record market of tomorrow.”

Steve James’ catalog thus adds to the rich offer of ANote, which in 2022 launched 108% more new catalogs on the platform, allowing its users to invest in many different genres and music catalogs while earning on royalties. To date, the community has over 20,000 investors, of which 91% already boast profits, who can invest easily and intuitively directly via the app. Among the most recent novelties, for example, the catalog of the artist and composer Sterling Fox stands out (author for Avicii, Britney Spears and Adam Lambert), but also the metal of Logan Mader (ex Machine Head guitarist), the performances of some of the most important jazz artists featured in the Sundance catalog, to arrive at the Cadillac Records film soundtrack, full of iconic blues covers and original R & B songs performed by Beyoncé and Solange Knowles.
