Hasbro and Lionsgate have teamed up to create a live-action film called Monopoly.
Barbie has proven that brands in movies become strong and for this reason Hasbro together with lionsgate will be involved in the production of a film project about Monopoly.
Lionsgate acquired the rights to the Hasbro property for $500 million, gaining access to 6,500 titles. Among the projects born out of this agreement will be a film about Monopoly.
Also in this case, it has to be a Barbie-style production, given that we’re talking about a world that, taken into live action, must be completely caricatured and over the top.
Recall that in the past there was an attempt to develop a film about Monopoly, in the production of which Kevin Hart, Tim Storey and Ridley Scott participated. A production spokesperson for the new project said:
Lionsgate’s management team is experienced in the entertainment industry and we are thrilled to have found such a good production company for our eOne film and TV business. We look forward to working with them, especially on the film adaptation of Monopoly.
