The National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred) has released a new report on animal health incidents in the Atacama.
This is the result of multiple outbreaks of bird flu in the region.
In this regard, Senapred said that there are currently 19 outbreaks in 10 regions in the Atacama region.
These have been distributed to the Las Machas area of the Caldera; Loreto Beach, Ramada Beach, Pulpito Beach, Rodillo Beach and Punta Padrones Puerto.
Cases have been detected in Vasco, Guacoda 1 and 2; Wetlands, Playa Grande, Playa Blanca Lllano de Challe and Piedra Azul, while the town of Chañaral de Aceituno in Frellina has also been affected.
The Charañal list is off, especially in the Playa las Pocitas area; Los Amarillos and Sugarloaf.
Regarding the affected birds, 9,789 dead birds, 1,977 sea lions, 476 Humboldt penguins, 6 pygmy sperm whales, including Magellanic penguins, agouti, springingos, sperm whales, walruses have been reported specimen. Common with dolphins.
In view of this situation, it is decided to maintain the preventive warning currently in effect.
Its purpose is to maintain continuous monitoring and coordination in order to respond quickly to any reports of animal illness or death along the Atacama coastline.
