Additionally, CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic are preparing to offer the new CDC-recommended COVID-19 vaccine in late fall, once it is approved and available. To help patients plan ahead, appointments can be scheduled in advance using the digital scheduler on CVS.com or the CVS Pharmacy app. The MinuteClinic offers flu shots and routine health visits, which can be scheduled at MinuteClinic.com.

According to a survey of U.S. consumers commissioned by CVS Health*, time, convenience and availability were cited as important factors in choosing when and where to get your flu shot. Here are other findings:

Digital scheduling on CVS.com and the CVS Pharmacy app provides the flexibility to schedule multiple patients at once, allowing families, caregivers and other groups to get vaccinated together. Patients can also schedule multiple vaccinations, such as flu shots and RSV shots, in one appointment, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In addition, patients have the option to visit their local CVS pharmacy and request vaccinations 7 days a week, including evenings and weekends. To get a flu shot and check for symptoms of illness at the MinuteClinic (during which time, patients can be tested for flu, COVID-19, strep throat, and more), an appointment can be made through MinuteClinic.com.

According to the CDC website, patients should get their flu vaccine in early fall, before flu season begins, and ideally no later than late October. CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic offer a variety of flu vaccine options, including the highest dose CDC-recommended for seniors and adjuvanted vaccines. The COVID-19 vaccine is free for all patients, and the flu shot is free for most insurance plans, including Medicare Part B.
