The father and creator of the Mortal Kombat series, Ed Boone, tweeted a post with the official release date for the next animated film Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the realms, which is the sequel to the previous film Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge.

Thus, the new animated film will be released both in digital format and in physical media on August 31 this year. In addition, the same release date had already been leaked before, but no one could say for sure whether it was true or not. But since Ed Boone himself confirmed it, there can be no doubt that this date is accurate.

In addition to the above, we know the actors who will return from the previous film, including new candidates for the roles of MK characters. As a result, the list of actors and characters looks like this: Patrick Sates – Scorpio / Hanzo Hasashi, Jennifer Carpenter – Sonya Blade, Joel McHale – Johnny Cage, Jordan Rodriguez – Liu Keng, David B. Mitchell – Raiden, Kintaro and Sector – Artt Butt Tsung and Sairaks, Aiki Amadi – Jax and the One Being (One Essence), Bayardo De Murgia – Sub-Zero / Quai Liang, Matt Young King – Kung Lao, Gray Griffin – Milina, Kitana and Satoshi Hasashi, Emily O’braian – , Debra Wilson as D’Vora, Matthew Mercer as Stryker and Smoke, Paul Nakauchi as Grandmaster of the Lin Quay clan, Robin Atkin Downs as Reiko and Shinnok, and Fred Tatasciore as Shao Kahn.

In the story after the events of the first Mortal Kombat tournament, Liu Kang, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade and Jax return home to discover that the Earth Kingdom has been invaded by the forces of Outworld. The evil commander Shao Kahn gives our heroes an ultimatum; Agree to a new Mortal Kombat tournament or go to all-out war with the Outside World. Now our heroes, along with new allies Kun Lao and Striker, must go to Outworld and fight for survival in the Earthrealm in the tournament to complete all tournaments. Mortal Kombat Finals!

It is directed by Ethan Spaulding, written by Jeremy Adams, and produced by Rick Morales and Jim Craig. Also Ed Boone will act as a consultant.
