Moschino creative director leaves Jeremy Scott

Change at the top for the famous Italian fashion brand Moschino with the change of creative director after the farewell of Jeremy Scott. With the American designer a almost ten years long relationship started in October 2013 in which he wrote a fundamental chapter in the history of the brand thanks to his exuberant style and his strong sense of humor, perfectly in line with the codes of the Maison. In view of the expiry of Jeremy Scott’s collaboration contract, Moschino has agreed with the designer on a new development path for the brand, which in the last ten years has significantly increased its distinctiveness and visibility on an international level. From April 2023 therefore Moschino’s internal style office will take care of the creative direction of the Italian house.

Who is Jeremy Scott?

Jeremy Scott is an American fashion designer best known for being the creative director of Moschino from 2013 to 2023. During his tenure, he brought a new style and energy to the brand, creating innovative and often bold collections. Since launching his label in Paris in 1997, Scott has built a reputation as ‘pop culture’s most irreverent designer’ and ‘fashion’s ultimate rebel’.

Known for his clothing, accessory and footwear designs for Adidas and Moschino, Scott has consistently worked with various celebrities such as Björk, Madonna, Katy Perry, CL and 2NE1, Nicki Minaj, Fergie, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Kanye West , Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, ASAP Rocky, MIA, Rita Ora, Cardi B and Grimes. As an early proponent of merging high fashion with street style, he creates designs that often incorporate pop culture icons.

The AEFF group

The origins of the group date back to 1972, when the designer Alberta Ferretti started the business as a sole proprietorship. In 1988 a company named Faar srl

to which the activities are conferred and which, in 1990, will be transformed into a joint-stock company, becoming the current Aeffe SpA. The first collaboration with other stylists dates back to 1983, when the company began producing the line under license Moschino Couture by the stylist Franco Moschino.

The growth of the group has been accompanied over the years by collaborations with other important stylists such as Jean-Paul Gaultier since 1995 (the collaboration ends with the spring-summer 2013 collection) and Narciso Rodriguez since 1998 (collaboration ended in 2007). The group has been the exclusive licensee of the Cédric Charlier brands since 2011 and Emanuel Ungaro since 2012 (collaboration ended in 2015). Since 2013, the creative direction of the Moschino brand has been entrusted to Jeremy Scott, an American designer, born in 1975.

The group develops the collections and works for its own brands Alberta Ferretti, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, Moschino, Pollini and the licensed brands Cédric Charlier, Jeremy Scott and Blugirl Folies. Furthermore, the group has licensed to some partners the production and distribution of other product categories that complete its offer (including perfumes, children’s and junior lines, watches and eyewear).

Massimo Ferretti, President of AEFFE SpA commented on the decision of the fashion house agreed with the American designer: “I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with such a creative force as Jeremy Scott. I want to thank him for his ten-year commitment to Maison Moschino and for launching a distinctive and joyful vision that will forever be part of Moschino’s history”.
