Museum to open in Akron, Ohio, dedicated to LeBron James’ story

LeBron James’ journey from basketball prodigy to the NBA’s all-time leading scorer will be immortalized where it all began.

LeBron James’ home museum dedicated to LeBron James’ many accomplishments opens November 25 in Akron, Ohio

Through a multimedia experience, the museum will recreate the apartment where he lived with his mother, Gloria, in addition to items from his childhood, years of training and his championship-winning career with the Cleveland, Miami and Los Angeles Lakers, Angels.

The museum is located in Building Three Thirty, a complex that James built to serve the urban community where he grew up.

“My dream has always been to put Akron on the map, so having a place in my hometown where I can share my journey with fans around the world means a lot to me,” James said. “I’ve saved a lot of stuff over the years and I always knew one day I’d be able to show it all.”

Items on display include the white suit he wore in the 2003 draft, his McDonald’s All-American Game jersey and his original backboard and basket from St. Vincent-St. High School. James captured the attention of basketball fans as a teenager.

Four-time NBA champion James turns 39 next month and is entering his 21st season in the league. Last year, he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the all-time scoring leader.
