NBA legend Michael Jordan sees similarities between himself and Anthony Edwards

NBA legend Michael Jordan has officially confirmed that comparisons can be made between his and Anthony Edwards’ games.

“Today I reached out to the GOAT, Michael Jordan,” Chris Broussard said on FS1. First things first. “Jordan said there were similarities in their games. He agreed. So, if Jordan said there were similarities, there were similarities.”

Edwards is emerging as a superstar for the Minnesota Timberwolves and has drawn comparisons to Jordan all season given his mentality, style, athleticism and overall production.

Comparisons between Edwards and Jordan began to heat up in November, when an NBA scout told ESPN’s Tim McMahon that Edwards was “the next Michael Jordan.”

Milwaukee Bucks veteran Patrick Beverley also told reporters in November that he had “told everyone from the beginning” that Edwards “had a chance to be Michael Jordan.”

“People look at me like I’m crazy,” Beverley added.

Edwards’ dunk on Utah Jazz veteran John Collins on Monday night drew a lot of attention, even drawing comparisons to the Chicago Bulls legend:

Edwards is carving his own path to NBA greatness, though, and he wanted to stop comparing himself to Jordan when he spoke with Complex’s Speedy Morman in December.

“I just want them to stop,” Edwards said. “Because he’s the greatest basketball player of all time, and I’m nowhere near that.”

The 22-year-old Edwards averaged 26.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 65 games this season, shooting 46.7% from the field and 37.0% from three-point range.

The Timberwolves are second in the Western Conference with a 47-21 record and have a chance to reach the NBA Finals, thanks in part to Edwards.
