Nepal faces potential risks as respiratory disease spreads in China

Kathmandu, December 1: Health experts point out that Nepal is also facing potential risks from respiratory diseases that have spread among Chinese children in the past two weeks. According to international media reports, the disease has spread to areas around Beijing and hospitals are overwhelmed with patients. The disease and its causes remain unclear.

Children develop symptoms such as fever, cough and difficulty breathing. Examination of the patient revealed Mycoplasma pneumoniae bacteria, Covid-19 virus, pathogens, influenza and sinusitis viruses.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has also shown interest in the disease spreading in China. The World Health Organization has asked China to provide reports on the disease. The World Health Organization says that of all ages, children are more susceptible to the disease and urges greater awareness.

After pneumonia and other respiratory diseases suddenly spread in China, the Indian government also issued a notice calling on the country’s health institutions to be prepared and citizens to be more vigilant. The Nepalese government has yet to issue an official notification in this regard.

Previously, Nepal was also severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic that originated in China. Currently, Nepal is also facing the risk of unknown diseases spreading in China. Dr. Sher Bahadur Pun, coordinator of the research department at Sukraraj Hospital for Tropical Infectious Diseases, said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has already affected Nepal. It cannot be said that the disease spread in China will not affect Nepal.” He said that it has already happened in Beijing and surrounding areas The epidemic is spreading further.

Dr. Sameer Kumar Adhikari, head of the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Department, said that since China is a neighboring country and there are cross-border movements between the two countries, Nepal also faces the risk of local spread of the epidemic. The world has become a smaller place when it comes to transportation. He said infectious diseases discovered in one place could easily spread around the world. He added that caution should be exercised as Nepal has proven not immune to the spread of the epidemic in neighboring countries. The official said the extent of the disease’s impact cannot be assessed until the nature, impact and causes of the disease currently spreading in China are known in detail.

Dr. Anup Raj Bastola, an infectious disease expert and director of the Department of Treatment at the Ministry of Health and Population, said the risk cannot be measured until a detailed description of the spread of respiratory diseases in China is available. “There should be detailed information on the specific causes of the disease, only then can we say how big the risk is in Nepal,” he said.

Dr. Rudra Marasini, director of the Department of Epidemiology and Disease Control, said the government is unsure of the risk of respiratory diseases spreading in China. “There is no need to assess its impact on Nepal,” he said. Masseny said the department has not issued any warning notices.
