Just a few weeks after the premiere of Matrix Resurrections, new images of the film directed by Lana Wachowski were known. The new entry in the sci-fi franchise will bring back to Neo and Trinity, played by Keanu reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss.
The film also includes new characters in charge of Jessica henwick, Toby Onwumere, Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff, Jada pinkett smith, Christina Ricci, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. In addition, it has the presence of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who plays a younger version of Morpheus, played by Laurence Fishburne in the original trilogy.
Matrix Resurrections takes up the events 20 years after Matrix Revolutions with Thomas A. Anderson living a completely normal life, being a prisoner of the Matrix. There, he must choose once again to follow the white rabbit, and try to get out of that fictional world that has become stronger and more dangerous.
In the last hours, new images of Matrix 4 released by the site were known Entertainment Weekly. Some official photos of the feature film offer a best look at the new characters, while revealing the use of new technology.
These are devices so far never seen in the franchise, something that will surely allow the characters to jump between the real world and the Matrix. Lana Wachowski referenced the use of technology both in the movie and in the real world.
“Paradoxically, technology has brought us closer and at the same time isolated us from each other,” said the film’s director. “The power of technology to trap or limit our subjective reality was an important part of the narrative of this new Matrix,” explained Wachowski.
Recently, the film’s co-writer, David mitchell, assured that Matrix Resurrections is not a sequel, but acts as an autonomous piece within the saga, despite retaking some key concepts of the saga.
Matrix Resurrections hits theaters next December 22th.
