New York women spark the ‘boobs in a sweater’ plastic surgery trend

Breasts that look at me have never appealed to this naturally petite New Yorker, so she dressed up for “boobs in a sweater” season.

Working in wealth management in Manhattan, Lauren couldn’t imagine being comfortable showing off a pair of curvy fakes under a business top in the office. This look just wasn’t for her.

However, in June, the 30-year-old blonde, who decided not to give her last name for privacy reasons, realized that she, too, was not entirely happy with her shapely 32A breasts. In her opinion, small mounds could not adequately reflect her charming femininity. They didn’t quite complement the tight sweater.

So, she decided to go under the knife not because she was overweight, but because of fashion.

“I had breast surgery because I wanted to look good and feel good in a professional environment,” Lauren told The Post. “I feel more confident in my clothes. This is the aesthetic I always wanted.”

The suddenly fashionable cosmetic surgery has become known among Big Apple tastemakers as “sweater boobs,” thanks to the cheeky “elegant” augmentation moniker coined by board-certified plastic surgeons Ryan Neinstein and Anna Steve of Neinstein Plastic Surgery on the Upper East Side.

“Last year, my son was late to school every day because it took me so long to find something to wear… Now he’s on time every day because this surgery has made my life so much easier.”

In July, Lauren underwent a newly sensational breast augmentation procedure, increasing her once petite cleavage to a nice plump but modest 32C.

After decades of clients clamoring for artificial breast enhancements popularized by “Baywatch” babes and porn stars, surgeons report women now prefer a more sophisticated look.

“Patients have sent us inspiring photos of (well-endowed) women in bikinis or topless,” Neinstein told The Post, noting that large implants have been in high demand over the past decade.

“But over the last year,” he continued, “we’ve noticed a trend where women are asking for smaller, more elegant implants because they want to look good in their everyday clothes.”

Neinstein cozily attributes the pandemic-fueled growth to the recent shift to smaller chest setups. He says about 40% of his Gen Z and millennial patients—most of whom are working moms hoping to achieve a killer physique in the boardroom or in line at school—now request mini breast augmentations.

“Here in the Northeast, we deal with cold weather most of the time,” the doctor said. “My office is seeing more and more inspiring photos of women wearing tight sweaters because our patients want a graceful breast enhancement that will complement their fall and winter wardrobe.”

And he’s right: more and more women are failing or going broke.

A January report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons on current plastic surgery trends states, “People now want moderate breasts… This is a trend (a move away from the very sensual feminine look we’ve seen before).

Even established fashionistas like Chrissy Teigen, Aisha Curry and Victoria Beckham have reportedly opted for smaller, more natural breasts in recent years. Ahead of the decline, Teigen, 37, revealed in 2020 that her move away from bulky accessories was partly driven by her desire to “button (in) a dress in my size.”

Just recently, self-proclaimed cosmetic surgery sleuth Dana Omari—a digital content creator who prides herself on sniffing out celebrities’ secret tucks—told The Post that she believes “Good 4 U” singer Olivia Rodrigo, now 20, probably decorated it. slim frames with a set of low-volume implants for “more projection, more roundness… and a natural (looking) lift.”

Neinstein told The Post that the operation, like its results, was simple and pleasant.

“Breast augmentation surgery techniques are similar to those used in most other breast augmentation surgeries,” he said. However, he noted that the recovery period for small add-ons is only three weeks, rather than the standard six weeks.

“The difference is in size,” the doctor added. He also often transfers some of the extracted fat from the abdomen to the breast, complementing a small implant to give it a softer, more artful appearance. “Women are now going up about one cup size, whereas (in the 2010s) they were going up three and four cup sizes.”

Eva Dadon, a married mom of three from Long Island, went from a 36A bra size to a full 36B after breast augmentation surgery in May.

And while her jewelry may be subtle, she told The Post that it has greatly improved her appearance.

“Being able to wake up in the morning, put on a cute sweater without a bra and go to work has completely changed my life,” said Dadon, 32, a laser hair removal technician who chose not to show her face. for privacy reasons. “I feel so much prettier and sexier when I get dressed every day because I can wear whatever I want and still look modest.”

She says the slight bump in her chest has benefited even her boys, ages 2 to 7.
