The Aragonese government confirms that today (Wednesday) is the first day since the outbreak of gastroenteritis in Tarazona that no new cases have been detected. According to yesterday’s figures, a total of 478 people were affected.
Based on these data, the General Directorate of Public Health expects that the number of people affected by the epidemic will decrease in the areas of Tarazona, Los Fayos, Torreras and Central Las Vegas, despite health recommendations and the ban on drinking water among these groups provisions remain in place.
Nuria Gayán, director of public health, said the number of cases and the course of infection are consistent with symptoms of gastroenteritis caused by water contamination: “The numbers are very high at the beginning, and when exposed to water contamination, the curve goes down. “Cause, take measures even due to pollution load losses.”
This week, sections of the Quails River began in an attempt to find the origin of the Cryptosporidium protozoa, the cause of the disease.
