‘No One Will Save You’ director has ‘no plans’ for a sequel

Brian Duffield, director of paranormal home invasion thriller Nobody’s Gonna Save You, said he currently has “no plans” for a sequel.

In the film, Kaitlyn Dever plays the grieving and reclusive Brynn as she mourns the loss of her mother. The entire town avoids her due to a past unknown event, and she lives a secluded life until she is forced to fight off an alien invasion of Earth.

The thriller’s finale finds Brynn happier than ever after the rest of the town is possessed by hostile aliens, leaving the front door ajar for a potential sequel.

But in an interview with Slash Film, Duffield said that a sequel is unlikely:

“I’m not the biggest fan of sequels. I joked with Caitlin that maybe every seven years we’ll do Before Sunset and save you. I could do a sequel. I have no plans to make a sequel.”

He continued by adding that if the first film reaches a large enough audience, it might change his mind:

“If enough people watch it on Hulu and everyone asks for it, we’ll talk. I don’t have a super franchise plan in my head yet.”

“It will take a lot of work, and then I will be so stressed that I will have to come up with something.”

Duffield previously explained whether the “No One Can Save You” ending is real or a hallucination in an interview with Inverse.

“It’s not a disappointment for Brynn or anything like that,” he said.

“I love Brynn. I love her as a character and what she goes through and I don’t have the heart to be a jerk and she gets kicked around so much in the movie that I wanted our girl to be okay.”

The film was praised for its unique aspects of the horror genre, including having only one line of dialogue throughout the entire run.
