Northeastern Chapter of Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists updates knowledge at regional meeting

The Northeast Chapter of the Dominican Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology successfully held its 2023 Regional Update and Conference Day on Saturday, November 18, at the UCNE Theater.

This event focuses on deepening knowledge in key areas of obstetrics and gynecology.

The day was marked by a series of related sessions, starting with “Anemia and Pregnancy: Classification and Management” by Dr. Leidy de Jesús, followed by a presentation by Dr. Fernando de León on “Urinary Tract Infections and Pregnancy”.

Dr. José Delancer presented on “Prevention and Management of Preterm Birth” and Dr. Orlando Mogena on “Basics of Classification of Pregnancy-induced Hypertension Syndrome”.

Experts including Ariel Crespo, Jorge Vargas and Patricia Mieses discussed the prevention of preeclampsia, the importance of vitamin D for women’s health and the treatment of breast lesions.

In addition, presentations by Dr. Jorge Vargas and Dr. Julio Gonell discussed common issues such as polycystic ovary syndrome and vulvovaginitis.

Dr. Ascanio Bencosme ended the day with a presentation at the Premenopausal and Postmenopausal Syndrome Conference, “What is diagnosed and how is it treated?”

The event ended with a closing ceremony and lunch, sponsored by IBERO FARMACOS, SRL INDUSTRIA FARMACÉUTICA and supported by institutions such as the Dominican Medical School (CMD) and the Catholic University of the North (UCNE).

The event highlights the ongoing pursuit of women’s health, focusing on the updating of knowledge and exchange among professionals in the field, who reaffirm the Dominican Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s commitment to continuing medical education.

The 2023-2025 Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Northeast Chapter of the Dominican Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology is Dr. Julio Vélez. Accompanying him in management are Dr. Martha Reyes, Vice President; Dr. Francisco Urena serves as Secretary General.

The financial department is headed by Dr. Nury M. Vargas, and the files and minutes are kept by Dr. Diana Román. The Scientific Committee is headed by Dr. Ramón Mena Rivas and includes Dr. Milady Duarte, Dr. Odalis Hernández and Dr. Hugo Ant. Paula.

Dr. Víctor Gomera, Dr. Nairoby Rodríguez, Dr. Lorina Tavárez and Dr. Cristian Ortíz joined as consultants representing different groups.
