According to the document mentioned in SEEN, the declaration of health interests dealing with the “CASA MASANTONIO project”, a care and drug delivery device for tuberculosis patients.

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the ten leading causes of death in the world and the leading infectious disease.

Likewise, as shown in Argentina’s Proclamation No. 6 on Tuberculosis and Leprosy, tuberculosis remains a public health problem in our country, even though it is a preventable and curable disease.

Each year, most people infected with TB in Argentina are young people. Thus, in 2021, 54% of reported cases were in males, while adult females accounted for 33% of boys and 13% of girls.

The department is responsible for all matters related to population health and promotes healthy behaviors in the community.

A comprehensive and intersectoral approach to assistance is essential, in line with nationally established guidelines and the approval of National Law No. 27,675 on the Comprehensive Response to HIV, Viral Hepatitis, Other Sexually Transmitted Infections and Tuberculosis. Health comprehensively encompasses preventive and curative practices and is understood as a compendium aimed at social representation, protection and promotion of human rights.

In this sense, with the tools and technologies available and the firm decision of the Coordinating Bureau for Tuberculosis and Leprosy in implementing the strategic approach, work is ongoing, relying on the HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections, Viral Hepatitis and Tuberculosis Response Directorate Reduce morbidity and mortality from tuberculosis and leprosy and resistance to anti-tuberculosis drugs.

This requires strengthening actions related to prevention, early diagnosis, timely and adequate notification, and follow-up and monitoring of high-quality treatment, and targeting specific populations, focusing on children and adolescents, persons deprived of their liberty, indigenous peoples and peoples living with HIV wait.

The CASA MASANTONIO project is a device for care and delivery of medicines that, in addition to finding people with symptoms and diagnoses, has been trying since 2016 to identify and overcome the barriers faced by patients. The initiative also offers a social approach to the problem, through the participation of former patients who have completed treatment and become social operators who actively search and monitor cases, which forms a fundamental part of the model.

The project works in coordination with the Ministry to explicitly promote the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis.

In view of the above, it is appropriate that the Ministry of Health recognizes the activities carried out by the CASA MASANTONIO project to focus on the care and support of tuberculosis patients.

The measures being implemented do not represent budget expenditures.

The Deputy Secretary for Health Strategy’s National Agency for Communicable Disease Control’s HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections, Viral Hepatitis and Tuberculosis Response Directorate relied on the Directorate of Health and Cabinet’s National Bureau of Agency Relations and Integrity Advisors to facilitate the publication of this document.

The National Agency for Quality and Supervision of Health Services, under the Deputy Minister for Quality, Regulation and Supervision, under the Secretariat for Health Quality, has intervened under its mandate.

The General Administration of Legal Affairs has also taken corresponding intervention measures.

This resolution was issued using the powers conferred by Article 103 of the National Constitution, Ministry Law No. 22,520 and its amending and supplementary regulations.

Article 1 – The “CASA MASANTONIO Project” is declared to have a health interest due to its support activities in the treatment of tuberculosis patients.

Article 2 – This resolution does not represent any expenditure by this jurisdiction.
